I am by no means ranking anyone based on strength or popularity. This is just what I perceive to be strong right now. Your opinions may vary. You’re also free to discuss in the comments below your own top genin teams and why you think so.
Leader: Hanabi Hyuga
Members: Sumire Kakei (former), Namida Suzumeno, Wasabi Izuno, Tsubaki Kurogane
Hanabi is formidable on her own. However, Namida’s jutsu has a lot of potential. This team can be classified as a bit of a glass canon as some of the members aren’tas battle hardened as some of the other characters.
Sumire was also quite powerful on her own, having retained control of Nue, albeit in a chibi form. Although she left the time, she was also replaced by a powerful member, Tsubaki Kurogane who can balance the team’s battle senses. I think they just need more experience in order to become more effective but their innate talents are definitely up to par, despite them consisting mostly of non-legacy members (having no ninja family that we know in the Naruto)
I hope they’ll be given more screen time too. With enough character development, I believe they will present some interesting dynamics to the show and I’m pretty tired of the “clones of the old generation” children in Boruto. So having original ninja shine is a nice touch..
Leader: Moegi Kazamatsuri
Members:Inojin Yamanaka, Shikadai Nara, Chocho Akimichi
The Ino-Shika-Chou combo of the show. With the genius of Shikadai, the pure brawn and strength of Chocho (when provided with the right motivation to fight) and the cunning and flexibility of Inojin’s techniques.
There’s no doubt in my mind that they are among the strongest in the show. Plus, while they are not strong on their own, teams are judged on how well they synchronize together and the synergy of their abilities, could prove powerful.
While they remain copy clones of their old generation, there have been attempts to mix them up a little and the combo that could arise might prove interesting. Also, the original Ino-Shika-Cho combo was more of an espionage/interrogation type of team. Although the current team 10 felt like they can carry that legacy, they can also prove to be a capable crowd control team especially during attacks.
Leader: Konohamaru Sarutobi
Members: Boruto Uzumaki, Mitsuki, Sarada Uchiha
The main stars are the main stars after all. Although team 7 is not their original team number, they requested for it in the end as an homage to the original team that the hokage is on.
On individual talent, all three members are very capable on their own. They can operate separately, without the need of support in most instances so the rank here is justified.
The new generation’s Sannin could be an interesting shock troops in battle. Plus they have a variety of jutsu at their disposal. Fire, lightning, and wind. With Sarada’s genjutsu and talents for espionage, as well as Mitsuki’s stealth, they can also operate as an intelligent team. Their potential is right about limitless right now.
Bonus: Team 5
Leader: Udon Ise
Members: Metal Lee, Denki Kaminarimon, Iwabe Yuino
Although they have some strong fighters, I believe they play the support role more admirably rather than pure strength and power. Metal Lee’s taijutsu is second to none but he suffers from anxiety.
Iwabe also offers unique Earth-style jutsu. And although Denki isn’t as strong a fighter as the other two, he could prove useful especially in the proliferation of technology in the current Borutverse.
Although the show isn’t as battle focused as the original Naruto, there are still a lot of scenes where the teams can shine, especially in the genin and the chuunin exams. Plus, there might be more battles in the future. Remember that the Naruto Pre-shippuden have little fight scenes too apart from the Wave Arc, Chuunin Exams and the Sasuke Retrieval Arc. Given time there might be more battles to come where the teams can shine. And maybe then I’ll revise this list or create a more up to date list. So, what do you think? What is your top 3 teams right now?
